Required Space for Tilt & Load Container Delivery
When delivering a shipping container with a tilt & load trailer, the truck requires sufficient straight-line clearance to maneuver safely. Below are the minimum clearance requirements:
1 x 20 ft container: at least 65 ft of straight-line clearance
2 x 20 ft containers in tandem: at least 110 ft of straight-line clearance
1 x 40 ft container: at least 110 ft of straight-line clearance

How to Prepare for Your Container Delivery
Before your shipping container is delivered, it’s essential to properly prepare the site to ensure the stability and long-term durability of your unit. We recommend placing the container on gravel, wooden blocks, or concrete pads to avoid direct contact with the ground. This method helps extend the container’s lifespan, improves airflow underneath, and prevents premature deterioration of the base.
Also, make sure the ground and support blocks are level. Proper leveling makes it easier to open and close the container doors and ensures safe, efficient use of your container.

Positioning Options When Loading Your Shipping Container
When your shipping container is delivered with a tilt & load trailer, you can choose the orientation of the doors. Two positioning options are available:
Doors facing the driver’s cab: In this case, the container doors are positioned toward the truck cab. During unloading, the doors will touch the ground last.
Doors facing away from the driver’s cab: Here, the container doors are positioned at the rear. During unloading, the doors will be the first to touch the ground.
This choice is important to ensure easy access and convenient use of your container once it has been delivered.

The container is loaded onto the truck’s platform with the doors oriented toward the driver’s cab.
During Container Unloading: Doors Touch the Ground Last
During unloading, the trailer tilts and the container slides smoothly until it is placed directly on the ground, with the doors touching the ground last.
